Andorra la Vella Issues 24,776 PK Contactless Parking Cards

Andorra la Vella council has issued a total of 24,776 PK cards for contactless parking payments so far, predominantly to private individuals.

The breakdown shows 22,965 cards distributed to individuals and 1,811 to businesses. New issuances dipped between 2022 and 2024 before recovering strongly in 2025, with 4,840 cards handed out that year. Officials project roughly 4,700 new cards for 2026, signaling steady ongoing demand for the system.

In barrier-controlled car parks, PK cards handled 870,131 transactions in 2025, with forecasts pointing to about 947,000 in 2026. These figures reflect widespread adoption not just among local residents but also drivers from other parts of Andorra.

While many people already possess the cards, some users do not for assorted reasons. The council upholds accessibility measures, such as 30 free minutes in horizontal barrier car parks, which support short visits, impulse buys, and neighborhood commerce—particularly benefiting non-holders from elsewhere in the country.

The cards also enable payments at parish pay-and-display meters. From January to February 2026, they accounted for 3,158 transactions, a change encouraged after cash options ended to prioritize contactless methods ahead of credit cards.
