Andorran police conducted 839 checks during the Christmas campaign targeting drink-driving and drug-driving, running from 11 December 2025 to 1 January 2026. The operation resulted in 26 arrests: 25 for positive alcohol tests and one for refusing to take the test.

Three arrested drivers were involved in traffic accidents—two causing material damage and one injuring a person. Among those detained, 19 were local residents, five tourists and two cross-border workers. The group included 23 men and three women. By age, five were 18-25, 13 were 26-40, and eight were over 40.

Blood alcohol levels for positives varied significantly. Eight drivers had readings between 0.87g and 1.20g per litre of blood; 10 between 1.21g and 1.60g; five between 1.60g and 2.00g; and the two highest at 2.38g and 2.24g.

Authorities also issued 14 administrative fines to drivers with levels below 0.87g. This year's total checks were lower than the previous campaign, which recorded 1,248 tests and 19 arrests.

The campaign follows the Justice and Interior Ministry's action plan and supports ongoing police efforts to curb risky driving. Police describe such operations as vital for boosting road safety, cutting accidents and reinforcing the message against mixing alcohol or drugs with driving, while pushing for zero tolerance to prevent irreversible personal harm.
