Andorra la Vella's municipal parking authority will suspend PK card recharges and sales of temporary access cards at barrier-controlled car parks starting 18 May for about three weeks, until 7 June.
The interruption is essential to update the vehicle control system's hardware and software, along with migrating the database to a more modern and efficient server. The Comú d'Andorra la Vella is urging regular PK card users to add sufficient credit ahead of time—ideally covering the full three weeks—to avoid access issues during the outage.
Automatic machines will stop issuing 3- and 7-day temporary cards, switching instead to standard daily rates. For 30-day subscriptions expiring between 18 May and 7 June, users must visit the main office at Centre Ciutat car park to renew.
Traffic and Parking Councillor Xavier Surana stressed proactive planning. "Our priority is to warn users in time so no one runs out of balance over these three weeks," he said. He added that the upgrades represent a vital move toward a faster, more reliable, and secure system aligned with modern technological standards, while noting that "citizens' foresight in recharging before 18 May is key to minimising the impact of this technological improvement."
