Andorran Driver Detained for 182 km/h Speeding on 80 km/h N-260 Road

Mossos d'Esquadra officers detained a 26-year-old Andorran resident yesterday after radar detected his vehicle travelling at 182 km/h on a 80 km/h stretch of the N-260 in Guils de Cerdanya municipality.

The incident occurred around 12:45 during a dedicated speed check at kilometre marker 181. Officers classified the excess speed—more than double the limit—as a criminal offence against road safety under Spanish law. Lacking Spanish residency or nationality, the driver was held to ensure his court appearance.

This morning, he appeared before the on-duty investigating judge at Puigcerdà court, where penalties including a substantial fine remain pending.

The N-260 links La Seu d'Urgell and Puigcerdà, a common route for drivers from Andorra. Police noted the road's deteriorated surface in this area, with repair works scheduled soon. No accidents or injuries were reported.
