Driver Arrested for 182 km/h Speeding on 80 km/h N-260 in Spain

Mossos d'Esquadra officers arrested a 26-year-old driver with an Andorran-registered vehicle yesterday after radar caught him travelling at 182 km/h on a section of the N-260 limited to 80 km/h.

The stop took place around 12:45 during a targeted speed enforcement operation at kilometre marker 181 in Guils de Cerdanya municipality. Authorities classified the speed—more than double the limit—as a criminal offence against road safety under Spanish law. With no residence or Spanish nationality, officers detained the man to guarantee his appearance in court.

This morning, he was brought before the on-duty investigating judge at Puigcerdà court, where he faces a significant fine and other penalties yet to be determined.

The N-260 connects La Seu d'Urgell and Puigcerdà, a route frequently used by Andorran motorists. Police highlighted the poor state of the road surface in this stretch, with restoration work planned in the near future. The incident involved no collisions or injuries.
