Three officers from Andorra's Road Safety Unit—a sergeant major, a senior officer, and an agent—finished a five-week advanced training programme in traffic accident investigation with Spanish Guardia Civil specialists on Friday.

The course took place at the Guardia Civil's Traffic School in Mérida, Extremadura, and involved around 50 officers from various foreign police forces. Participants engaged in a mix of theoretical lessons and hands-on exercises focusing on virtual accident reconstruction. Key topics included mathematical calculations for vehicle speeds, brake marks, adhesion and friction coefficients, vehicle dynamics, and typical road crash scenarios.

The programme also covered comparisons of road safety laws and investigation approaches across the represented countries, encouraging the exchange of expertise among international participants.

This initiative forms part of Andorra's police training strategy, which emphasises professional development. Andorran officers have taken part in comparable courses before, supported by the strong partnership between the Andorran Police and Guardia Civil.

The diploma presentation on Friday was attended by Antoni Rodríguez, deputy director of the Police Department; Manel Pelegrina, head of the Road Safety Unit; and Rafael Calvo Muñoz, Guardia Civil colonel and interior counsellor at the Spanish Embassy in Andorra.
