The Canillo local council has launched a national tender for the urban planning project and construction oversight of the CG-2 bypass through Soldeu centre, seeking to improve urban quality, road operations, and pedestrian areas along the parish's main traffic artery.

Mayor Jordi Alcobé described the effort as a way to enhance public spaces, bolster road safety, and energise Soldeu centre with designs that favour people, practicality, and harmony with the environment. He stated that the initiative would improve public spaces, road safety, and the revitalisation of Soldeu centre through kinder, more functional urbanisation integrated with its surroundings.

The project covers the CG-2 stretch from the Vidal Casal building to the Edelweis building, including the unfinished section of Carrer de la Pujada, the parking area on the plot with the Aspen parking hut, and nearby pavements and carriageway. It involves about 3,800 square metres of pedestrian spaces and 3,650 square metres of roadway.

Key goals include reconfiguring parking to prioritise walkers, minimise the visual and spatial impact of vehicle areas, and sustain the highway's core function. Bids must allow for independent phased implementation and adhere to the council's technical and material guidelines.

The tender complies with Law 14/2022 on public procurement, using a mix of economic and qualitative evaluation criteria. Proposals will be judged on experience with general roads or similar infrastructure, technical and methodological strength, and pricing. Interested firms have two months to submit, with the deadline on 30 April.

In parallel, beautification works on the CG-2 through Canillo centre are progressing. Those began last autumn and are expected to finish by late June 2027, aiming to boost accessibility, mobility, and aesthetics for residents and visitors.
