Key Points

  • 30 motorhome berths fully booked since August 2025 opening.
  • Electric chargers offline pending meter installation.
  • Users criticize high prices, poor signage, restrooms close at 8pm.
  • 13,613 vehicles processed; annual berths with 5-year renewal limit.

The CanRodes parking facility on the old main road in Andorra la Vella has filled all 30 berths for motorhomes, as confirmed by the parish council this Wednesday. Councillor for Traffic and Parking Xavier Surana hailed the rapid uptake as evidence of strong demand for regulated spaces tailored to these vehicles.

However, electric chargers for motorhomes remain out of service pending installation of required meters to regulate usage, the council stated in response to user complaints on motorhome forums and apps. Users have noted the facility's proximity to the town centre and clean conditions but criticized prices as high for overnight stays, poor signage, and restrooms closing at 8pm. The council defended current rates as appropriate for parking alone and explained the restroom hours aim to prevent misuse, matching practices at similar sites like the river park. A tender for annual cleaning services appeared in the BOPA this week, shifting from prior monthly contracts.

Surana outlined the allocation process: berths are granted for one year, with automatic annual renewals up to five years if requirements and documentation are met. After five years, renewals need fresh applications, using a lottery if oversubscribed. This system channels motorhomes to the controlled site, reducing prolonged parking elsewhere.

Each berth includes electricity hookups—once operational—plus points for grey and black water disposal and fresh water refill to support compliant stays.

Since opening in August 2025, the rotation zone has seen 13,613 vehicles: 13,217 cars and 396 motorhomes, reflecting high usage, Surana noted. The site also offers public amenities like a dog park, green area, mini-recycling point, and hygiene facilities, enhancing its role as a multi-purpose resource.
