A bus crash in central Massana on Wednesday injured four people and damaged a restaurant facade after the 37-year-old driver lost consciousness. The driver, hospitalized at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell for observation, remained stable Thursday and could receive medical discharge in coming hours as tests continue to pinpoint the blackout's cause.

Police received the alert at 3:20pm near the telecabina roundabout on Avinguda del Través, arriving by 3:30pm. The fully loaded L5 bus heading to Arinsal—some initial reports cited L6—first struck a car ahead, then rammed the restaurant front. It reversed, hitting a van behind, in a sequence involving three private vehicles total. Early accounts varied on injuries, from one serious case or six bus occupants to the firefighters' confirmed tally of four: the driver, who required extrication; and three passengers—a 37-year-old man, 27-year-old woman, and 15-year-old minor—with contusions and bleeding, all transferred to hospital. One person got on-site treatment for an anxiety attack; a man with neck pain refused transport. The three passengers received discharge Thursday, their conditions minor.

The impact broke a restaurant window and displaced part of the facade. No staff were inside, but half of Thursday afternoon's reservations were canceled pending insurance assessments and expert inspections.

Emergency services dispatched two firefighter units with a truck and ambulance, two health service ambulances, Massana traffic agents, and multiple police patrols. They aided victims, secured the site, and cleared vehicles amid heavy backups extending into the evening. Diversions routed Ordino-bound traffic via La Aldosa and Anyós; northbound Avinguda Sant Antoni traffic turned back through Anyós. Some drivers from Ordino preemptively used the Anyós route, reducing congestion.

Police called it among the parish's worst incidents this quarter and are investigating. Secretary of State David Forné voiced regret, wished swift recoveries, and praised the rapid response. No further injury updates have been released.
