Multiple Traffic Incidents and Arrests Disrupt Andorra Roads

Police arrested a young Andorran resident after a single-vehicle crash on the CG-1 highway near the Prat Salit roundabout—known locally as the Viena roundabout—in Santa Coloma on Thursday night. The driver registered a blood alcohol level below one gram per litre but tested positive, leading to three charges: endangering public safety through impaired driving, and two counts of injury to physical integrity after two of his three passengers sustained minor injuries.

The crash happened just after 9pm when the car lost control, left the road, and suffered extensive damage near the Viena restaurant entrance. All four occupants walked away from the wreckage, with fire service paramedics treating the injured on site. A bus stopped almost directly above the roundabout but stayed clear of the incident. Police managed alternating one-way traffic during vehicle removal, creating brief circulation issues.

Earlier around 8pm, a minor collision at the KM0 roundabout between Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany escalated when the drivers fought amid heavy traffic on Avinguda Tarragona. The bump caused only material damage, but bystanders alerted police, who arrived quickly, separated the men, processed the accident report with traffic agents, and detained one driver.

This came shortly after a disturbance at a cafeteria in a shopping centre on the outskirts of Sant Julià de Lòria. Public reports prompted three police patrols and an ambulance to respond. Two units left soon after finding the situation less serious than indicated, while the third stayed briefly. Police sources noted no major consequences or initial arrests.

Around 11.40pm, a Spanish-plated Volkswagen Taigo rolled over on Avinguda de les Nacions Unides in Escaldes-Engordany toward the Dama de Gel roundabout, colliding with an Andorran-plated Seat Arona and damaging two parked vans. Both sets of occupants emerged unharmed, and drivers tested negative for alcohol. Mobility screens cited a slippery surface. Police, traffic services, firefighters, and emergency teams closed the lower avenue section for about 90 minutes, restoring flow past 1am.
