The Government has approved the construction of an elevated sidewalk on the left side of the CG‑1 between the Valira campsite and the Comella roundabout to address a critical pedestrian mobility point. The project covers the renewal and upgrade of about 140 metres of pavement within a roughly 200‑metre stretch leading up to the communal stadium Joan Samarra Vila.

The new sidewalk will be raised to preserve existing trees and the slope, maintaining the small natural environment along this section of the road. The works include the installation of an underground drainage pipe and other measures to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

Spokesperson Guillem Casal described the stretch as “a black hole in the road network” and said the work forms part of implementing the recent Law on Universal Accessibility. The government says the solution balances mobility improvements with sustainability and landscape integration.

Construction is expected to last approximately four months and must be completed by 31 July 2026. To reduce disruption, work will be concentrated outside the school period to minimise effects on traffic during peak hours.

The tender is open to companies until 25 February 2026.
