Heavy Traffic Jams Roads to Andorra Ski Resorts Amid Snow Surge

Heavy traffic disrupted roads to Andorra's ski resorts on Saturday, driven by a surge of skiers and fresh overnight snow, with morning queues on access routes evolving into afternoon backups near ski exits and the Spanish border.

Delays started around 9am on the CG-2 in the Orient valley, where northbound tailbacks extended from the Funicamp area to the FEDA power station near Encamp. Mobility services also noted dense traffic on the CG-3 at La Massana's entrance and the CG-4 into the area, both heading north. Friday's influx from Alt Urgell had already signalled high demand for the slopes.

Afternoon conditions intensified as the ski day wrapped up. On the CG-2 through Encamp's Valira Nova variant, two ambulances attending a medical emergency briefly closed one downhill lane, sparking delays along the stretch. Further congestion built between Soldeu and El Tarter on the CG-2, while the CG-3 stayed heavy through La Massana. Outbound queues toward the Riu Runer border crossing reached over a kilometre by 5pm. Separate reports highlighted slow traffic on the CG-1 exiting to the Spanish border, as well as southbound delays into Encamp, Canillo on the CG-2, and La Massana on the CG-4.

A yellow alert remained active at high elevations, mandating winter tyres or chains on routes to Envalira Port, Arcalís from Sorteny, and Coll de la Botella. Congestion lingered into the evening with steady visitor traffic.
