Motorcyclist hospitalised after Avinguda Tarragona crash; two other Andorra collisions

A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a car on Avinguda Tarragona beside the entrance to the Andorra 2000 shopping centre on Thursday evening. The crash occurred at about 20:45–21:00 during heavy traffic. Emergency personnel treated the rider at the scene and later transferred them to the hospital emergency department. Police, a fire‑service ambulance, Andorra la Vella traffic officers and other emergency crews attended; one of the two uphill lanes was closed for a time, producing delays. The intervention lasted around half an hour. Authorities said the causes of the collision are under investigation and have not released further details on the rider’s condition.

Earlier that day, at about 14:06, two cars collided at the junction of Bonaventura Armengol and Avinguda Meritxell in Andorra la Vella. The crash involved a vehicle with Andorran plates and another with Spanish plates. Accounts of that incident differ: a local outlet and some police sources reported only material damage and no injuries, saying the collision appeared to follow a car braking at the traffic light with the following vehicle unable to stop. Regional reports, however, state that the driver of the Andorran‑registered vehicle, a 49‑year‑old resident, was injured and was attended by emergency services at the scene. Firefighters were dispatched after the engine of one vehicle produced heavy smoke, and municipal crews cleaned up spilled fluids, briefly disrupting traffic in the town centre. Authorities continue to investigate and have not issued a single definitive account of the injuries.

Separately, at about 12:07 midday a collision between a Spanish‑registered truck and an Andorran‑registered motorcycle at the Aixovall roundabout on the CG‑1 caused around one kilometre of congestion toward Sant Julià; police reported that that incident resulted in material damage only.
