Sant Julià de Lòria has moved to standardize the management equipment used across all communal car parks, and the parish council is also preparing to free up new space next year to create additional parking places. The mayor, Cerni Cairat, has said the parish needs more parking.
The council on Thursday awarded the supply, installation and maintenance contract for the car-park machinery to Maviparq. It was the only tender received, but, according to finance councillor Joan Malea, it scored well with the Circulation and Parking department. Supply and installation were contracted for €169,772.73, and maintenance will cost €4,384 per year for each car park.
Before approving that contract, the council authorised an extraordinary credit that does not add new debt, transferring €3,000 to cover replacement of equipment at the Prat Nou car park, located in front of the El Molí building. The replacements had initially been planned only for the Trillà and Camp de Perot car parks, but Prat Nou was added after recurrent faults were detected. The council considered the change necessary and urgent and included that equipment among the renewals even though it had not been originally scheduled.
