Xavier Cornella, managing director of Creand, described the 37th Trobada Empresarial al Pirineu as "more necessary than ever" at its presentation on Friday, emphasising its role in fostering collective responses to a global economic landscape marked by uncertainty and geopolitical tensions.
The event, themed "The New World Economic Map: Which Path Do We Take?", is set for 11 and 12 June in La Seu d'Urgell. Cornella noted that recent strategies from world leaders have intensified tensions beyond even last year's forecasts, creating unpredictable consequences for businesses. While major powers' choices remain out of local hands, he argued firms can adapt daily to mitigate risks or capitalise on emerging opportunities. Forums like this, he added, enable essential debate, reflection, and alliances to chart a course forward.
Event president Montse Pujol reinforced the point, calling it a key space for sharing experiences and assessing business outlooks through geopolitical, technological, and territorial perspectives, particularly Andorra-Lleida links. She highlighted growing interest, a priority on high-quality attendees for stronger networking, and the inclusion of Catalonia's Anoia and Berguedà counties, known for family-run firms.
To accommodate businesses' aversion to Friday afternoons, the schedule shifts to start Thursday morning and end Friday midday, with the afternoon reserved for informal "tardeo" networking rather than sessions.
Head of Government Xavier Espot will open Thursday proceedings. Speakers include former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, current Greek Agriculture Minister and ex-EU Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, CIDOB President and former EU High Representative Josep Borrell, Catalan President Salvador Illa for Friday's inauguration, and a to-be-confirmed Spanish government minister for the close. The agenda includes round tables, forums, and talks by Andorran and Lleidan leaders.
