Andorra Helpline Handles 40+ Queries in 2 Days on Rent Law Extensions

The Andorran government's new helpline (137) and habitatge.ad website have handled more than 40 queries in their first two days, with citizens mainly asking about rental contract extensions under the recent housing law.

Housing Minister Conxita Marsol said the service has seen strong uptake, focusing on contract renewals alongside questions from landlords. She described it as "a good way to inform about the law" and noted that the executive had promoted the 137 number to ensure wide access. Marsol added that resources could expand if demand grows: "If there is a need to broaden the service, we will do so."

The helpline, initially operating from 9am to 2pm, along with a new specialized chat service, provides guidance on applying the legislation. This includes rent update processes, contractual rights and obligations, and changes to the rental market. The measures aim to clarify the shift and avoid confusion during the transition.

The law, approved by the Consell General last Thursday, introduces a gradual unfreezing of rents from 2027 to 2030. Officials have presented it as ensuring a stable transition while limiting increases, amid ongoing housing market pressures.
