Andorra's timber output soared 218.8% to a peak 765 tonnes in 2025, driven by La Massana's dominance and

Andorra's timber production reached a record 765 tonnes in 2025, marking a 218.8% increase from 2024, based on figures released Thursday by the statistics department.

La Massana led with 310 tonnes, accounting for 40.5% of the total. Canillo and Sant Julià de Lòria followed with 150 tonnes each (19.6%), Encamp added 130 tonnes (17%), and Ordino contributed 25 tonnes (3.3%). No production occurred in Escaldes-Engordany or Andorra la Vella.

This surge represents the second consecutive annual rise since 2019, following four years of decline from 2020 to 2023—after increases in 2018 and 2019—and stands as the highest volume in the 2018-2025 period. Over those years, La Massana tops cumulative output at 1,002 tonnes, ahead of Encamp (594 tonnes), Canillo (469 tonnes), Sant Julià de Lòria (452 tonnes), and Andorra la Vella (300 tonnes). Ordino (146 tonnes) and Escaldes-Engordany (68 tonnes) recorded the lowest totals.

Certified forest area expanded to 65.6 hectares, up 39.3% from 2024 and the largest extent in five years. Ordino and Encamp drove much of the growth, though Canillo holds the biggest historical share.

Wood for chipping totalled 530 tonnes—more than double the previous year's amount and the highest since 2021—with La Massana producing 200 tonnes, followed by Canillo and Encamp. Sawn wood preparations climbed 160% to 235 tonnes, a series peak, led by La Massana (110 tonnes, 14.4% of the national figure), Sant Julià de Lòria (60 tonnes), Canillo and Encamp (30 tonnes each), and Ordino (5 tonnes).

The results underscore a robust recovery in forest exploitation and wood processing, with La Massana as the primary contributor across Andorra's parishes.
