MoraBanc HQ in Andorra Earns LEED Platinum, First in Country

MoraBanc's headquarters in Andorra la Vella has secured LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, marking the first time any building in the country has achieved this top-tier global standard for sustainable design.

The accolade caps a comprehensive renovation, completed and opened last year, which delivered a 35% cut in energy consumption and a 50% reduction in water use. Features driving the rating include on-site renewable energy production, high-efficiency LED lighting, and intelligent resource monitoring systems.

Mireia Maestre, the bank's director of ESG, Institutional Relations, and Shareholders, noted that the certification aligns with goals to deliver a sustainable, modern, and efficient environment suited to clients and staff.

GCA Architects directed the project alongside local practice Cinc Estudio Arquitectura. The upgrades also emphasize occupant wellbeing through enhanced natural light, generous workspaces, and an in-house restaurant operated by Jubany, positioning the site as a leading workplace.

LEED—Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—evaluates performance in areas such as energy and water savings, material selection, indoor air quality, location efficiency, and creative solutions. Platinum represents the pinnacle of these criteria.

The milestone reinforces MoraBanc's focus on environmental, social, and governance priorities, including prudent investments and forward-thinking operations. It establishes the headquarters as a model for sustainable architecture in Andorra's banking industry.
