Spanish Guardia Civil and tax agency officials seized 77 perfume bottles worth €9,515.77 from a passenger on a regular bus line from Andorra at the Farga de Moles border crossing.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 11 July, around 8:15pm, as the bus reached the Lleida customs post. Officers directed it to the inspection area and asked all passengers if they carried goods subject to declaration. Every occupant denied doing so.
A detailed vehicle check revealed a luggage bag with perfumes from 24 different brands. One passenger later acknowledged ownership, stating he had purchased the items in Andorra.
Staff verified the goods at tax agency facilities and issued a seizure notice for an alleged administrative smuggling offence. The perfumes remain stored at the Farga de Moles customs office, available to customs authorities.
The action formed part of routine duties by the Guardia Civil, acting in a fiscal patrol role, and the Spanish Tax Agency to prevent and combat smuggling, tax fraud, and related violations, according to an official statement released today.
