Coopalsa to Keep Staff Schedules Unchanged Until After Winter Amid Annulled Award

Coopalsa's works committee has welcomed the company's decision to retain current bus staff schedules until after the winter season, describing it as a step toward better quality of life and preserving worker rights.

The positive response follows a meeting between management and employee representatives held on Thursday. Committee sources told Altaveu the move provides "tranquility" to the workforce, which had feared abrupt changes after the Superior Court of Justice annulled a January 2025 arbitral award. The court ruled the award lacked legal basis, as it relied on provisions of Law 33/2018 later declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court.

Around 20 drivers have left the company in recent weeks, primarily due to concerns over a potential return to previous schedules, the sources said. Some cited more attractive job offers elsewhere, including better weekend availability and comparable pay.

Coopalsa has committed to negotiating new shift agreements that balance financial viability, service efficiency, and employee conditions. The firm views this as essential for sustainable labour relations under the revised legal framework. It had earlier considered schedule reviews by late August but opted to maintain the status quo provisionally.

The company also launched its annual user satisfaction survey as winter preparations continue.
