Andorra Approves 292 Aid Payments Worth €999K in Q2 2026, Up 22%

Andorra's Social Affairs department approved 292 occasional economic aid payments in the second quarter of 2026, totaling €998,858.35—a 21.9% increase from the previous year. Authorities processed 298 applications, approving 98% and distributing 537 grants across 277 households that included 411 individuals.

Andorran households accounted for 36.5% of claims, followed by Spanish households at 33.6%. Single-person households received 204 grants, representing 73.6% of the total, while single-parent families obtained 40, or 14.4%. Payments for basic needs under article 27 dominated with 236 awards, comprising 43.9% of all grants. Women received 282 grants (52.5%), compared to 255 for men (47.5%). The average amount per household stood at €3,605.99, up 19.3% year-on-year, with household numbers rising 2.2% and beneficiaries increasing 3%.

Andorra la Vella led by parish with 212 grants (39.5%), followed by Escaldes-Engordany with 152 and Sant Julià de Lòria with 69.

For the first half of 2026, the department authorized 1,626 payments to 751 households and 1,123 people, totaling €2.73 million.

Unemployment benefits in the same period showed 35 applications, a 16.7% rise from 30 in 2025. Officials approved 22 households at a 62.9% rate, aiding 51 individuals with €117,704.06—up 4.2% overall, though average awards dropped 38.4% to €5,350.18 per household. Household approvals surged 69.2%, while beneficiaries grew 142.9%. These included 16 new claims, four extensions and two reactivations. Single-person households secured eight grants (36.4%). Andorrans received 13 (59.1%), Spaniards six (27.3%). Andorra la Vella, La Massana and Escaldes-Engordany each had five. Women obtained 14 grants (63.6%), led by the 51-55 age group with five; men had eight, topped by 61-65 with five. Thirteen applications were rejected, including eight for lacking job service registration and two for declining offers.

Data from the Statistics department highlight a typical main beneficiary as an Andorran woman over 50—often aged 51-55—living alone. Six in ten grants went to Andorrans.
