Andorra's Employment Hits 82.4% in Q2 2026 as Unemployment Drops to 0.9%

Andorra's employment rate for people aged 15-64 reached 82.4% in the second quarter of 2026, with an estimated 54,220 individuals in work. The figure reflects a quarterly increase of 0.1 percentage points and a 0.3-point annual gain, according to data released Thursday by the statistics department.

By gender, men's employment rate stood at 83.8%, down 0.5 points from the previous quarter and 1.1 points lower than a year ago. Women's rate was 80.9%, up 0.9 points quarterly and 1.8 points year-on-year. The 15-24 age group saw the strongest progress, with its rate climbing to 32.1%—a 0.6-point quarterly rise and 8.9-point annual jump.

Unemployment among the 15-74 active population fell to 0.9%, impacting an estimated 535 people. The rate dropped 0.6 points from the prior quarter and held steady compared to Q2 2025. Men's unemployment measured 1.5%, easing 0.4 points quarterly but rising 0.5 points annually. Women's rate hit 0.3%, down 0.8 points quarterly and 0.6 points yearly. For 15-24-year-olds, it rose to 2.8% quarter-on-quarter (up 0.9 points) but fell 4 points from last year.

Inactivity among those aged 15-64 affected 11,040 people, or 16.8% of the group—a 0.4-point quarterly increase but 0.3 points below the prior year. Men's inactivity rate was 14.9%, up 0.9 points quarterly and 0.6 points annually. Women's stood at 18.9%, down 0.2 points quarterly and 1.3 points year-on-year. Youth inactivity in the 15-24 group declined to 66.9%, a 1-point quarterly drop and 8.2-point annual decrease.

Andorra's 0.9% unemployment rate remains far below regional peers: 9.9% in Spain, 7.9% in France, and 5.9% in the EU-27. Annually, the rate stayed flat in Andorra and the EU-27, fell 0.4 points in Spain, and rose 0.7 points in France. Quarter-on-quarter declines included 0.9 points in Spain, 0.6 in Andorra, 0.4 in France, and 0.3 in the EU-27.
