Andorra's Employment Hits 82.4% in Q2 2026 as Unemployment Drops to 0.9%

Andorra's employment rate for people aged 15-64 stood at 82.4% in the second quarter of 2026, covering 54,220 workers. This marked a 0.1 percentage point rise from the previous quarter and a 0.3-point increase from the year-earlier period, based on figures from the statistics department released Thursday.

Employment among men aged 15-64 was 83.8%, a 0.5-point quarterly decline and 1.1-point annual drop. For women, the rate reached 80.9%, gaining 0.9 points over the quarter and 1.8 points year-on-year. The 15-24 age group showed marked improvement, with its employment rate at 32.1%—up 0.6 points quarterly and 8.9 points annually.

The unemployment rate for the 15-74 active population dropped to 0.9%, affecting about 535 people. This represented a 0.6-point quarterly fall, with no change from Q2 2025. Men's unemployment eased to 1.5%, down 0.4 points quarterly but up 0.5 points yearly. Women's rate was 0.3%, decreasing 0.8 points over the quarter and 0.6 points annually. Among 15-24-year-olds, unemployment climbed to 2.8%, a 0.9-point quarterly increase but 4-point annual decline.

Inactivity for those aged 15-64 affected 11,040 people, or 16.8% of the group—up 0.4 points quarterly but down 0.3 points from last year. Men's inactivity rate rose to 14.9%, gaining 0.9 points quarterly and 0.6 points annually. Women's was 18.9%, down 0.2 points quarterly and 1.3 points year-on-year. For 15-24-year-olds, inactivity fell to 66.9%, a 1-point quarterly drop and 8.2-point annual decrease.

Andorra's 0.9% unemployment rate continues to trail regional averages: 9.9% in Spain, 7.9% in France, and 5.9% in the EU-27. Year-on-year, Spain's rate fell 0.4 points while France's rose 0.7 points; both Andorra and the EU-27 were unchanged. Quarter-on-quarter, declines reached 0.9 points in Spain, 0.6 in Andorra, 0.4 in France, and 0.3 in the EU-27.
