The Andorran government has approved a tender worth nearly €4 million for upgrades at the Andorrana Secondary School in Santa Coloma and the Andorrana Maternal and Primary School in Sant Julià de Lòria.

Announced on Wednesday by government spokesperson and minister Guillem Casal, the projects span multiple fiscal years and focus on accessibility, energy efficiency, and space optimization. In Santa Coloma, work will replace exterior aluminium window frames, improve thermal insulation, and rehabilitate facades. Specialized support classrooms will also be reformed to address functional and accessibility requirements. Construction there is slated for 26 months from the start date.

At the Sant Julià school, interior renovations include redistributing classrooms to form new meeting rooms, refurbishing the kitchen pantry and changing areas, and renewing windows, false ceilings, flooring, and interior paint. The site will meet standards for accessibility, electrical safety, fire protection, and fire stability. Technology enhancements will add telephony and IT points in classrooms and offices, plus a public address system tied to fire alarms and a centralized air conditioning system with remote access. These works carry a 19-month timeline.

To minimize disruption, both sites will see phased, intermittent construction compatible with school operations. Casal noted that efforts will prioritize holiday periods.

The open national public procurement process requires bids by 5pm on 18 November 2026.
