Andorra Taxi Drivers Ratify Unified Digital Dispatch and Elect ATIA President

Andorra's interurban taxi drivers have ratified the unified digital dispatch system as their common coordination tool, confirming its ongoing use during a general assembly on Tuesday.

The Associació de Taxistes Interurbans d’Andorra (ATIA) assembly, held at the Llacuna conference room in Andorra la Vella, saw more than 30 drivers attend in person, with 67 votes cast including proxies. Participants endorsed the externally operated shared dispatch centre to manage interurban services.

Víctor Manel Ambor Varela was elected ATIA president, heading a board alongside Armando Javier Godoy Venturi that won a wide majority with 49 votes. The opposing slate, led by former ATA president Sergi Gil, received 18 votes after initial disputes over the dispatch system.

Attendees also approved updated statutes, internal operating regulations to structure the association's organisation and activities, and increased contributions of €50 for the next three months—rising from €10—to support ATIA's approximately 75 members and operations. ATA finances will cover the difference for its affiliates, while others pay the full amount. The group established 863000 as its primary contact number and agreed to vacate ATA's former premises.

The new leadership's priorities include bolstering coordination among drivers, representing their interests with authorities and transport partners, and upholding dialogue, transparency, and accountability. ATA and ATI suspensions continue pending a merger, with no plans for immediate dissolution. Ambor noted ATA would not resume without broad support from ex-members.

No major rifts surfaced from the minority slate, and the board received a confidence vote. ATIA aims to improve service standards for passengers while safeguarding drivers' rights.
