Andorra Taxi Drivers Ratify Unified Digital Dispatch and Elect ATIA President

Andorra's taxi drivers have ratified the continuation of a unified digital dispatch system for the newly formed Associació de Taxistes Interurbans d’Andorra (ATIA), following the election of its leadership at an extraordinary general assembly.

The gathering on Tuesday at the Llacuna conference room in Andorra la Vella confirmed the unified dispatch centre—managed by external operators—as the common coordination tool for interurban taxi services, according to a statement from the association. More than 30 drivers attended in person, with 67 votes cast including proxies.

Víctor Manel Ambor Varela has assumed the presidency of ATIA's board, heading a slate alongside Armando Javier Godoy Venturi that won a clear majority with 49 votes. The opposing list, led by former ATA president Sergi Gil, received 18 votes amid initial tensions over the dispatch system, which Gil's group had criticised as problematic.

Subsequent votes approved the new statutes and the vacating of ATA's former premises, aligning with the winning slate's priorities. The assembly also established the historic phone number 863000 as ATIA's primary contact.

ATA and ATI will operate in suspension pending merger progress, with no formal dissolution planned yet. Ambor expressed optimism that ATA would not be revived without broad support from its ex-members.

To support ATIA's roughly 75 affiliates, contributions will increase to €50 for the next three months—from €10 previously. ATA's stronger finances will subsidise the difference for its members, while ATI affiliates cover the full amount.

The minority opposition showed no signs of prompting an immediate split, and the new board received a vote of confidence. Further updates may follow as the association develops.
