Andorra Tobacco Duties Drop 10% in August as Customs Revenue Dips

Andorra's Customs Department has reported a 10.1% decline in tobacco import duties for August, totaling €6,970,326 compared to €7,755,425 in the same month of 2025. This drop contributed to a slight overall decrease in monthly revenue.

Total customs revenue for August reached €17,850,197, marking a 0.7% reduction from €17.9 million the previous year. Through the first eight months of 2026, collections stood at €140,034,417, a 5.9% fall from €148,758,676 over the same period in 2025.

Tobacco duties year-to-date amounted to €53,016,956, down 15% from €62,399,021 in 2025. The trend reflects ongoing declines in this category.

Gains in other areas partially offset the tobacco shortfall. Fuel duties increased 6.3% in August to €5,330,184, supported by a mid-July tax cut that boosted imports amid competition with Spain. The eight-month fuel total, however, dipped 3.5% to €35,792,310 from €37,080,760.

Beverage import taxes rose 5.6% last month to €741,708, but the year-to-date figure declined 6.5% to €5,608,457 from €5,998,378.

The "other goods" category showed steady growth, up 6.6% in August to €4,807,977 and 5.4% year-to-date to €45,616,692 from €43,280,515.

By tax type through August, customs duties generated €54,998,629, while the indirect general tax (IGI) brought in €52,276,483.
