Andorra Open Valley held its first demo day on Tuesday, where all eight participating startups presented solutions developed with Andorran partners to address real business challenges.
The European startup acceleration programme, led by Creand in collaboration with Plug and Play, Setap 365 and Caldea, drew around 80 attendees including company representatives, institutions, investors and innovation ecosystem players from Andorra and the Pyrenean region.
Santiago de Larrea, Creand Crèdit Andorrà's director of innovation, called the event a milestone for the initiative launched last November—Andorra's first such programme for European startups. He highlighted its unique structure, uniting the three local firms to identify corporate challenges, then leveraging Plug and Play's global network to match them with suitable startups.
The startups—Novem, Doshi, ToumAI, Build38, Wastelocker, TUBR, Graphite Note and Gridbrid—worked over recent months on areas including financial process improvements and reporting, digital security and authentication to cut fraud and enhance customer experience, demand forecasting, digital twins, seasonality management and digital inclusion.
De Larrea noted the international draw, with entrepreneurs from Norway, the UK, France, Estonia and Ireland attending despite the journey. Many expressed surprise at Andorra's vibrant ecosystem, he added. He also mentioned synergies with Creand's Enlaira project, which supports local Andorran startups.
Among the presentations, TUBR's Dash Tabor emphasised tourism's key role in Andorra, stressing quality customer experiences and staff availability for loyalty. Novem CEO Martin Feigum Johansen showcased a platform to maximise AI benefits using company-specific data.
