Caldea has reached the final phase of construction on its new hotel and targets an opening in the second half of November, aligning with the 2026-2027 winter season's start. Miguel Pedregal, the thermal centre's general director, stated on Sunday that work is advancing according to plan, provided the current pace holds.
Pedregal shared the update during the fourth Dia de l'Escaldenca i l'Escaldenc, an open day for Escaldes-Engordany residents. He noted that while construction projects can face delays, progress remains strong, especially with the Christmas period—a key time for Caldea—in sight. No formal customer announcement has occurred yet, but initial social media teasers have received enthusiastic responses.
The hotel responds to persistent visitor requests for on-site lodging to extend their thermal experiences. Pedregal expressed confidence in its reception, saying the team is eager for the launch. On staffing, he acknowledged broader challenges in hiring seasonal workers due to housing shortages but confirmed the hotel's full team has been selected and will train before opening.
Rosa Gili, Escaldes-Engordany's first consul and Caldea board chair, voiced similar optimism. She highlighted the potential importance of meeting the Christmas timeline while noting the steady advancement despite construction risks.
The event secured 1,140 reservations, exceeding last year's total and drawing families, couples, and locals to facilities like the Indoor Grand Lagoon, panoramic lagoon, outdoor lake, gastronomic options, and live music. Organised by Caldea and the commune, it underscored the centre's community roots. Pedregal toasted the hotel's near completion and recalled public backing at Caldea's inception, while Gili pointed to the turnout as evidence of growing local engagement with the parish landmark.
