Andorra la Vella's local council has approved an on-call reserve labour pool to bolster essential services, offering pre-screened and trained workers for technical and operational positions in key departments.
The initiative addresses growing challenges in recruiting and retaining skilled professionals due to labour market imbalances in areas such as maintenance, electricity, lighting, construction works, environmental services, and hygiene. It provides quick deployment of staff to handle temporary vacancies or demand surges caused by retirements, leaves of absence, permissions, or increased workloads, ensuring uninterrupted public service delivery.
Eligible positions include lighting technicians and operatives, masons, construction and cemetery workers, electricians, plumbers, hygiene and environmental operatives, drinking water network staff, caretakers, janitors, and maintenance and assembly technicians, among similar roles.
Councillor for Talent and People Management Eva Tadeo explained that the pool aims to shield essential services from staffing shortfalls in various scenarios. She emphasised its role in enabling swift action against unforeseen needs while upholding the service standards residents expect.
The council will operate two distinct reserve pools: one on-call for departmental requirements and another for year-round leisure and sports activities. Separate summer recruitment drives will continue for roles like tourist information officers, environmental assistants, sports facility receptionists, youth, sports, and social monitors, and the Curulla programme.
Interested candidates can find application details and forms on the council's website or at the Talent and People Management department in the Comunal Administrative Building on Prat de la Creu, 70-76. Contracts will follow the council's public service regulations, approved on 19 October 2023.
