The Spain-Andorra Mixed Commission on education met annually in Madrid on Tuesday, agreeing to form a negotiating team to revise the bilateral education pact signed in December 2004.

This decision follows through on pledges from the commission's January meeting in Andorra and the July encounter between Andorra's Minister of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities, Ladislau Baró, and Spanish Education Minister Pilar Alegría.

Delegates tracked the ongoing homologation of vocational training qualifications set for 2024 and agreed to begin work on recognising official music education credentials. They also discussed developing agreements that smooth student access from both countries to universities, post-compulsory studies, and non-university higher education.

The session addressed the Spanish education system's operations in Andorra, focusing on school infrastructure, pedagogical and IT resources, and a plan for responsible technology integration. Both delegations committed to arranging meetings to exchange best practices on classroom technology.

Andorra's team was led by Secretary of State for Education and Universities Josep Anton Bardina, with Spain represented by Secretary of State for Education Abelardo de la Rosa. The talks unfolded in a spirit of cooperation and mutual trust, with both sides stressing the value of sustained partnership to maintain educational quality and stability for students.
