The AREB confirmed the departure in a statement issued on Friday. The agency expressed public thanks for his dedication, professionalism and commitment, especially during what it described as a particularly significant phase for its consolidation and development.

To ensure a smooth transition and operational stability, Eva Garcia Serrano, the current deputy director, will take over as interim director general from 1 June. The agency has not yet specified plans for a permanent replacement.
