Andorran councillor Pol Bartolomé launches debut novel with proceeds to Càritas

Pol Bartolomé, the general councillor for Concòrdia, has launched his debut novel, *La font dels diamants*, marking his entry into fiction writing. The book was presented on Monday evening at 7pm at the Centre Cultural Lauredià in Sant Julià de Lòria.

The project began four years ago while Bartolomé lived in New York and worked at Andorra's mission to the United Nations. Distant from home, he started jotting down personal thoughts about his roots, without any plan to publish. He wrote during weekends, holidays, and free moments, gradually shaping it into a draft by late last year. Early in 2026, he approached local publishers, and Editorial Llamps i Trons embraced the idea immediately—especially its charitable angle.

All proceeds from this first edition will go entirely to Càritas Andorrana, with both author and publisher covering production costs. The funds will support the organisation's *Tu com jo* programme, which provides dignity-preserving food access via supermarket credit cards amid rising living costs. Càritas welcomed the proposal right away.

The novel is a rural thriller set in an imaginary Pyrenean village about a century ago. It follows young people investigating local legends, blending adventure with reflections on identity, community, and recent changes in Andorra. Bartolomé hopes readers connect with these ideas, noting the story's dynamic nature allows varied interpretations.

As writing is not his profession, Bartolomé saw no reason to profit personally and preferred directing sales to families in need. The project will extend to music, with a song of the same title planned soon, giving the work a brief but multifaceted life.
