Sant Julià de Lòria Spring Fair Draws Strong Crowds, Serves 1,000 Food Portions Despite Rain

Sant Julià de Lòria's Spring Fair wrapped up its latest edition with strong attendance and 1,000 food portions distributed by local restaurants, despite rain forcing the cancellation of Sunday afternoon concerts.

The event, organised by Colla Laurediana with backing from the parish council, took place from Friday to Sunday at Plaça de la Germandat. It drew visitors of all ages through a lineup of live music, dance shows, flamenco workshops, cultural animations, and diverse food options. Restaurants Casa Meva, Bar del Centre, and La Valireta handled the catering, serving a total of 1,000 portions that underscored the fair's draw.

Organisers had anticipated around 4,500 attendees over the weekend, basing expectations on rising numbers from prior years despite cooler weather. Friday's launch featured Andorran group Rumband at 7pm, a dance performance by Aïnoa Acevedo and Zaira Martínez at 9pm, and a set by Barcelona's RumbaYSon de Gracia from 10pm, with festivities running until 1am.

Colla Laurediana secretary Jordi Blanco noted the fair's growing appeal across the parish and Andorra, cementing the switch to Plaça de la Germandat as its permanent home. Cònsol Menor Sofia Cortesao highlighted the council's doubled funding, reaching about €15,000 for shows and concerts, plus extensive support in organisation, communications, cleaning, and technical aid. She described the staff contribution as invaluable and positioned the fair as a lead-in to the parish's major festival, encouraging community gatherings.

While Sunday's weather cut the programme short, robust turnout on Friday and Saturday affirmed the event's place in the local calendar. It boosted commerce and social activity across Sant Julià de Lòria, particularly in hospitality. The council praised the youth-led initiative for enhancing parish life.
