Record 1,020 Candidates Register for Catalan Proficiency Exams

Andorra's Department of Language Policy reports a record 1,020 registrations for official Catalan exams, reflecting strong public commitment to proficiency certification amid rising demand for basic levels.

Key Points

  • Registrations up 161 from June's 859, with B2 leading at 265 and A1 at 254.
  • A2: 168, B1: 117, C1: 118, C2: 98 registrations.
  • Rise in A1/A2 tied to language law for residence permits.
  • Exams on June 5,6,13,19; results July 2 on government site.

The Department of Language Policy has closed registrations for the official Catalan exams with a record 1,020 candidates, up 161 from the previous June session that drew 859 participants.

The B2 level saw the highest interest with 265 registrations, closely followed by A1 at 254. Other levels recorded 168 for A2, 117 for B1, 118 for C1, and 98 for C2.

Officials welcomed the strong turnout as evidence of public commitment to formal certification of Catalan proficiency. The rise in A1 and A2 entries continues a pattern observed in the January session, linked to the Official and Proper Language Law's requirements for residence permit renewals.

Exams are scheduled for 5, 6, 13, and 19 June, depending on the level. Results will appear on the government's website on 2 July at 10am. Further details are in the call notice published in the BOPA.
