Escaldes-Engordany parish council began selling blind subscriptions on Monday for the five paid concerts at the 42nd International Jazz Festival, offering access for €50—a 25% discount from the regular €65 price—along with an official festival gift.
The passes, available until May 10 or sold out, grant entry to all paid events at Sala Prat del Roure without reserved seating, which will be assigned later. Standard subscriptions start on May 12. The initiative rewards loyal fans willing to commit before the full lineup is officially announced, building on the event's established reputation.
Procurement details in the BOPA gazette have revealed the main acts for the July 2-9 festival. Swedish trombonist Nils Landgren opens on July 2, followed by US saxophonist Joshua Redman on July 3 for the first paid show. On July 4, Cuban clarinettist Paquito D’Rivera and Israeli clarinettist Anat Cohen step in for Cuban pianist Chucho Valdés, who withdrew for health reasons. US jazz and gospel vocalist Lizz Wright performs July 5, with the Maria Schneider Orchestra closing the paid concerts on July 8.
Council officials emphasise that the blind passes go beyond the financial incentive, appealing to the trust of repeat visitors who prioritise the festival's quality and prestige over the specific programme. This approach strengthens ties with audiences and underscores the event's status as a key cultural fixture in Andorra.
