Andorran Teen Artist Makuka Wows FiM Vila-seca Festival with New EP

Andorran artist Makuka delivered a successful performance at the FiM Vila-seca festival on Thursday night, showcasing his new EP *Soñadores de barro* to an enthusiastic crowd and highlighting Andorra's push to promote young musical talent abroad.

Nicolás Vega, the 18-year-old musician known as Makuka, took the stage at 9pm in Tarragona's Parc de la Formiga with a full band of local musicians from the Camp de Tarragona. His energetic pop-rock set, primarily in Catalan with two songs in English, centered on tracks from the EP and created a strong emotional connection with the audience. Afterward, Vega described the night as special, noting it felt like linking "my two homes: my heart in Andorra and the sound with the people of this land." He emphasized performing original material in Catalan to forge genuine bonds, while crediting the band's regional ties for the show's intensity.

The appearance stemmed from a 2023 agreement between Vila-seca town hall and Andorra's Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, via its Action Culture department, aimed at fostering artistic exchanges and Andorran acts at the festival. Makuka's slot also tied into the FiM's Talent Antenna programme, building on his prior local successes at the BAM festival and Sona9 contest semi-finals.

Beyond the performance, Vega revealed he is already recording new material at Ten Productions, backed by his label U98 Music and ministry support. He anticipates "very important surprises" in 2026, stressing the value of industry professionals in advancing his career. His FiM presence generated media interviews and industry contacts, underscoring the agreement's role in opening international doors for Andorran artists.
