The Andorran government has announced an extraordinary session of the official Catalan language exam at A1 level, scheduled for Friday, 4 September, to help residents and cross-border workers renew their residence and work permits.

The exam targets individuals aged over 16 at the time of the test, including Principality residents and fronterers who must demonstrate basic Catalan proficiency under the new provisions of the Official and Proper Language Law. Authorities aim to address demand from those who missed the June session, enabling them to obtain the required certificate.

Online registration opens on 29 June at 8am and closes on 3 July at 3pm via the e-tramits portal. The call is capped at 150 places, allocated on a first-completed basis.

The test will take place at the Examination Centre in Sant Julià de Lòria, Carrer de les Escoles 30. Written components—covering oral and reading comprehension, plus written expression and interaction—run from 9.30am to 10.35am. Each candidate receives a one-hour slot from 11am for oral expression and interaction tasks, with schedules available from 31 August on the Ministry of Culture website.

Results will appear on 15 September on the Ministry's site. Successful candidates can then apply for their official Catalan language diploma through the e-tramits portal using form J1T022.

Further details will appear in the official gazette, BOPA, on 3 June.
