Multiple Minor Crashes in Andorra Injure Van Driver, Pedestrian, Riders; One Motorcyclist in ICU
Several light injuries occurred in traffic incidents across Andorra over four days, affecting a van driver, pedestrian, motorcyclists, and cyclist. A solo motorcycle crash involving alcohol led to emergency spleen surgery and ICU admission.
Key Points
- Thursday: Van driver injured in La Massana collision at Avinguda Sant Antoni.
- Friday: Encamp pedestrian hit by car at Ràdio Andorra roundabout, treated in hospital.
- Saturday: Motorcycle slide on CG-2 near FEDA caused light contusions.
- Sunday: Drunk motorcyclist crashed on CG-1, had spleen removed, in ICU; cyclist hit in Sant Julià.
A series of minor traffic incidents across Andorra from Thursday to Sunday resulted in light injuries to several people, including a van driver, a pedestrian, motorcyclists and a cyclist. One motorcyclist remains in intensive care following emergency surgery after a solo crash while under the influence of alcohol.
The first incident occurred on Thursday at around 4:42pm, when a 44-year-old man driving an Andorran-plated van collided with a car at number 27 on Avinguda Sant Antoni in La Massana. He was treated at hospital for light injuries.
On Friday evening just after 8pm, a 35-year-old Encamp resident was hit by an Andorran-plated car at the pedestrian crossing near the Ràdio Andorra roundabout, at the start of the Encamp variant. Two off-duty nurses offered immediate assistance before emergency services arrived. The pedestrian, who stayed conscious despite potentially serious injuries, was taken to hospital. Traffic agents set up alternating lanes, rerouting vehicles through the parish center and causing brief queues.
Saturday brought two separate motorcycle incidents. Around 3:45pm, an Andorran-plated motorcycle traveling northbound on the CG-2 near the FEDA power station in the Andorra la Vella area lost control and slid, with the rider falling to the ground. The motorcyclist, who sustained light contusions and was able to stand unaided, received on-site treatment from emergency services. Police managed the scene while crews cleared oil and debris, leading to short uphill delays toward the Orient valley and Encamp.
Sunday saw the final two crashes. At around 5:15am on the CG-1 at kilometre 3 near the Prat Salit roundabout in Santa Coloma, a 49-year-old local resident on an Andorran-plated motorcycle crashed alone. He tested positive for alcohol, suffered a spleen injury and serious traumatic lesions, and underwent emergency surgery that afternoon at Nostra Senyora de Meritxell hospital to remove his spleen. He remains in the intensive care unit. Later, at 9:15am, a 64-year-old cyclist collided with an Andorran-plated car at number 15 on Avinguda Rocafort in Sant Julià de Lòria.
No further updates are available on the other victims' conditions or ongoing investigations.
