Andorra Households Hit 41,071 with Average Size at 2.19 People

Andorra recorded 41,071 households as of 30 June 2026, with a resident population of 89,752 producing an average size of 2.19 people per household, according to Department of Statistics data released on Thursday.

The figure marks a 0.3% quarterly increase from 40,928 households in the prior period, though the average size dipped slightly from 2.21 a year earlier. Andorra la Vella led with 11,395 households, followed by Escaldes-Engordany at 7,117 and Encamp at 6,613. La Massana had 5,735, Sant Julià de Lòria 4,143, Canillo 3,655 and Ordino the fewest at 2,413.

La Massana posted the largest quarterly gain at 2.9%, with Encamp up 1.0%. Canillo fell 6.5%, largely due to address standardization by the local commune. Sant Julià de Lòria edged down 0.1%. Year-on-year, La Massana rose 5.6%, while Canillo dropped 1.4% for the same administrative reasons.

Single-person households comprised 37.4% of the total. Two-person units accounted for 25.2% (10,342), three- to five-member households 32% (13,162) and those with more than five people 5.4% (2,225).

Sant Julià de Lòria had the highest average at 2.49, followed by Ordino (2.40) and Escaldes-Engordany (2.29). Canillo recorded the lowest at 1.78, then Encamp (2.07), La Massana (2.14) and Andorra la Vella (2.18).

Quarterly changes in averages showed Canillo up 6.6% and La Massana down 2.1%. Year-on-year, Canillo gained 7.2%, with La Massana declining 3.1%.
