More than 250 primary school pupils from Andorra la Vella's six schools participated in the closing ceremony of the Children's Council on Friday at the Estadi Comunal Joan Samarra Vila.
Children from the British College of Andorra, Col·legi Mare Janer, Col·legi Sant Ermengol, École Élémentaire Française, and École Primaire Française enjoyed activities from 9.30am to 3.30pm, including bouncy castles, giant wooden games, and traditional games. The event marked the end of the year's initiative and recognised the pupils' contributions.
Youth councillor Maria Nazzaro described the occasion as "a very emotional and significant moment" that acknowledges the children's commitment and ideas. She added that gathering pupils from all local schools for games and convivencia is the best way to repay their efforts and reinforce that their voices matter in building a more inclusive and dynamic Andorra la Vella.
The stadium will host a second major event on Saturday, June 6, from 4pm to 9pm: the end-of-year festival for grassroots sports schools. Around 1,500 children from 32 local entities are expected, with the free event open to all under-16s. Attractions include recreational workshops, slides, bouncy castles, water games, sports activities, a road safety circuit, and a foam party at 7pm.
Sports facilities councillor Jordi Cabanes highlighted the organisational challenge of back-to-back large-scale events, calling it a point of pride. He noted that the stadium serves as a hub for the parish's educational and sports networks, offering free access focused on grassroots values.
