The third edition of Andorra's Festa de la Transhumància takes place on 4 July at Naturland's 2000m altitude, offering a packed schedule of events to highlight the country's deep-rooted pastoral heritage.
The centrepiece activity involves a guided trek to Roca Pimes from Cota 2000, where attendees accompany Sant Julià de Lòria herders as they lead livestock to high summer pastures. Designed for those comfortable with mountain terrain, the moderate-difficulty hike provides three route lengths: 3km to the Bunquers, 4km to Coll de Finestres, or 6km to Port Negre. The full round trip takes roughly three hours and will be overseen by eco-guards from the Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror and a Naturland horseback guide.
From 10am to 4pm at Prat de Conangle, visitors of all ages can explore a display of local sheep, a QR-code audio tour along the Cami dels Antics Oficis, and workshops on traditional Pyrenean skills—dry-stone walling at 10am and beeswax candle-making at 11am. Families will find pony rides, classic games, an eco-carousel, and a sheepdog show at 12.30pm.
A fair of premium local goods runs from 10am to 1pm, featuring producers including Artesà de Muntanya Cal Jordi (artisan sausages), Vital (sheep wool products), Essència de les Valls (Ratassia de la Carmeta), Formatgeria Batall, Autèntic Mel, and Vela Vella candles.
The event wraps up with a communal lunch on the Borda Conangle terrace, crafted by local producers and chefs. A whole veal, courtesy of Ramaders d'Andorra, headlines the €20 set menu: country charcuterie and cheeses, roast meat with accompaniments, bread, gluten-free chocolate coca, two drinks, and coffee. Trio del Pirineu will provide live folk music.
Lunch tickets go on sale at Plaça Laurèdia tourist office or, if available, on-site from 10am at Borda Conangle.
Shuttle buses connect Camp Gran in Sant Julià de Lòria to Cota 2000: a 7am trip for hikers, outbound hourly from 9.30am to 3.30pm, and return hourly from 10am to 4pm.
