A Citroën taxi flipped on a straight stretch of the CG-1 highway after the Margineda roundabout, prompting a swift emergency response. Police suspect speed contributed, fining the driver for low-level alcohol use, with the road quickly reopened.

Key Points

  • Incident at 7am southbound toward Sant Julià de Lòria with driver and two 22-year-old passengers in Citroën.
  • No injuries, only shock and property damage reported.
  • Driver fined for positive breathalyser below professional limit (under 0.57g/l).
  • Emergency response closed road briefly; speed possibly a factor under investigation.

A taxi overturned just after exiting the Margineda roundabout on the CG-1 southbound toward Sant Julià de Lòria this morning, carrying a driver and two 22-year-old passengers in the rear seats of a Citroën vehicle. No injuries occurred despite the dramatic scene, with police issuing an administrative fine to the driver for a positive breathalyser test below the professional limit of 0.57 grams of alcohol per litre of blood.

The incident took place around 7am, shortly after leaving the roundabout in a straight section of road. Investigators suspect speed may have contributed to the loss of control, though the exact cause remains under review. Emergency teams—including firefighters, Andorra la Vella traffic police, traffic agents, and medical units from the SUM—responded quickly. They checked the occupants, who suffered only shock, and fully closed the road temporarily to upright the vehicle and clear the site.

Firefighters provided on-site medical attention, while police accident investigators and traffic agents managed the response and restored flow with minimal disruption due to the early hour on the route from Andorra la Vella. The crash caused only property damage.
