Andorra Unveils 64 Summer Museum Nights Events from June to September

Andorra’s Nits d’Estiu als Museus programme for 2024 features 64 cultural events across the nation’s museums, running from 16 June to 15 September under the slogan ‘Activitats que t’atrapen’. Organised by the Taula de Museus—representing public, communal, mixed and private institutions—alongside Forces Elèctriques d’Andorra (FEDA), the schedule includes concerts, guided tours, outdoor cinema, astronomical observations, talks, nighttime exhibitions, heritage routes, family workshops and gastronomic experiences.

The launch took place on Thursday at the Casa de Guardes in Engolasters, highlighting FEDA Cultura’s contributions despite the temporary closure of the MW Museu de l’Electricitat for renovations. Rut Casabella, head of Museums and Monuments at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and FEDA coordinator Fran Alcázar stressed the strong coordination among museums to deliver a varied programme reaching all parishes and diverse audiences.

Music forms a core element, with performances such as Astrio at the Santuari de Meritxell—part of the New Sanctuary’s 50th anniversary—Duo Gemelle at Sant Martí de la Cortinada, and Balls Cantats at Museu Casa Rull. The Festival de Música Antiga dels Pirineus (FeMAP) will stage events at Hotel Rosaleda, Santa Coloma, Sant Julià de Lòria and Engolasters lake, complemented by the 15th Festival de Música dels Pirineus with Ensemble Musicantes along the Camí Hidroelèctric.

Cinema highlights encompass 1930s horror classics at Museu La Massana Còmic, open-air screenings in Andorra la Vella and Santa Coloma, and FEDA-supported family animation *Solan i Eri, missió a la lluna* at Engolasters, linked to sustainability. Small groups will also screen the climate documentary *Echo of Greenland* inside the MW museum structure, with FEDA sponsoring Catalan subtitles.

New additions feature theatrical visits at Casa Cristo and a renewed *Dolça FHASA* production by Il·luminades theatre company on the Camí Hidroelèctric, including extra nighttime walks in July and August. Astronomy offers four evening sessions plus a daytime solar observation for families. Gastronomic events range from wine tastings at Casa Museu d’Areny-Plandolit to artisan sausage and beer pairings at Museu de la Moto in Canillo.

Casabella called the series a proven summer success that fills venues and allows smooth shifts between sites like Casa Cristo, Espai Galobardes and BiciLAB. Museums report strong early interest from residents, with calls and emails arriving before official bookings open—especially for meteor showers. “These are activities for citizens, and locals enjoy them most,” she said, noting tourists make up a minority of past participants.

Most events are free but limited by capacity, requiring advance reservations through individual museums. Organisers focus on visitor satisfaction rather than record crowds.
