Andorra Grants €125K to Silence Productions for Sequel Film Casa en Cendres

The Andorran government has awarded a €125,000 grant for 2026 cinematography funding to Casa en cendres, a project by local production company Silence Productions SL that serves as the second part of the film Casa en flames.

Government Spokesperson Conxita Marsol announced the decision at a press conference after Wednesday's Council of Ministers meeting. The project was the only submission in the call for proposals and was chosen by a review panel.

The assessors commended its artistic and technical merits, solid production framework, and prospects for national and international distribution. The film involves an international co-production with Andorra, Spain, and Italy, supported by funding from TV networks, streaming services, and public bodies. It will deliver local benefits via on-site filming, in-country spending, and employment for Andorran residents in key positions.

Marsol framed the grant within the government's commitment to the audiovisual sector. She cited prior successes like 42 segundos and El fred que crema, which reached cinemas and streaming after similar support, alongside Borís I, rei d’Andorra, which premiered in October 2024 and drew global attention. Projects Els de Sau (2024 grant) and 11 (2025 grant) are currently in post-production.

In the same meeting, the Council approved a decree defining the protection area around Sant Miquel d'Engolasters in Escaldes-Engordany, including rules for interventions on the cultural asset and its surroundings. The boundaries match those published last November, following a public consultation period that received seven claims from 77 affected properties. The zone splits into a 20-metre accompaniment area around the monument and a broader preventive area covering key views and landscapes, aimed at preserving its historical, cultural, and aesthetic value. This brings the total to 18 cultural assets with decreed protection zones.
