Andorra Issues Stamp Honoring Integrated Senegalese Community

Correos, Andorra's postal service, has issued a new stamp from its Diversitat Andorrana series dedicated to the Senegalese community in the Principat. The release, timed to mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Andorra and Senegal, recognises the group's high level of integration and active involvement in the country's social and cultural life.

Printed in a run of 45,000 copies using offset printing, the stamp carries a face value of 2.65 euros and is sold in sheets of 25. Its design symbolises human connections forged through migration, cultural exchange and shared coexistence, serving as an emblem of mutual respect and intercultural dialogue. Correos emphasises that the initiative highlights Andorra's cultural diversity and the Senegalese community's contributions to an open, plural and inclusive society.

Though small in number, the community maintains a strong institutional presence. Its members regularly take part in events showcasing Senegalese culture, traditions and history via gastronomy, music and dance. Most live in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes-Engordany, where job prospects in hospitality, construction and retail have drawn them since immigration rose around 2000. Over time, the group has diversified to include technical and university students, as well as entrepreneurs running shops, businesses and restaurants.

The stamp also reflects two decades of steady bilateral ties, with joint projects in health, education and access to drinking water.
