Andorra la Vella's FestXic Expands to Three Days with 40 Family Activities

Andorra la Vella's FestXic family festival returns for its second edition from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September, now spanning three days with around 40 activities for children and families, including workshops, games, shows and concerts across parish venues.

Building on the strong reception of the inaugural event, the council has boosted the festival's length and scope to establish it as Andorra's premier family gathering. The programme emphasises cultural access for young children, community bonding and public space use, with events timed to coincide with Catalonia's long weekend to draw visitors from abroad, Social, Youth and Public Space councillor Maria Nazzaro explained. She stressed the deliberate scheduling to let local families enjoy outdoor quality time while pursuing an international outlook.

Culture area head Jan Cartes highlighted fresh elements such as sandcastle building with coloured sand and a body percussion workshop led by Santi Serratosa, alongside music, theatre, circus, storytelling, wooden games and cinema. Families can tailor their own itineraries amid the flexible schedule.

About 20 activities centre on Carrer Callaueta, starting Friday at 5pm with wooden games, a dedicated space for ages 0-2, giant optical illusions, balloon modelling and roaming circus or theatre performances.

Parc Central features the world's smallest cinema in a van (Friday afternoon and all Saturday), letter-painting workshops and enclosed sandcastle construction.

Plaça del Poble hosts musical events, beginning Friday at 6:30pm with Serratosa's percussion session, followed Saturday by Ambauka's concert featuring local cultural groups including giant figures.

At Plaça de la Rotonda, Friday and Saturday bring Mou-te—an Andorran techno outfit with wind instruments—and Aquae et Lumina at the colour fountain.

The only ticketed event is Xiula's new show Xiulant on Saturday at 6:30pm in the congress centre, with low-cost tickets available soon. Highlights also include Quinze són Qüinze.

Sunday closes with El Pony Menut—a child-friendly take on El Pony Pisador—plus nature walks along the Macarulla trail. Goodie bags with a tambourine, bracelet and hat will be distributed Saturday afternoon at Plaça de la Rotonda.

Nazzaro pointed to greater departmental funding to enable the growth and noted coordination with other national organisers to avoid overlaps, though full certainty remains out of their control.
