Juli Barrero to Bike 700km Across Catalonia for Album Gas Concerts

Musician Juli Barrero will pedal an electric bicycle across Catalonia for 16 days from August 11 to 26, covering 700 kilometers without support vehicles to promote tracks from his album Gas through 14 concerts in 15 different locations.

The 50-year-old musician, who weighs more than 100 kilograms and had not cycled for 20 years, will tow a trailer carrying 50 kilograms of gear, including speakers, an amplifier, guitar, clothing, and tools. He aims to average 60 kilometers daily, with two rest days built into the itinerary. Filmmaker Hèctor Romance and director of photography Iñaki Elcano will join him to capture a documentary highlighting the physical challenge, chance encounters along the route, local landscapes, and the music itself.

The tour begins with a performance at Estrella Andorra's headquarters on August 11. Barrero will then visit Fígols i Alinyà—staying at the town hall and playing at the Sant Víctor hermitage—Ponts, Lleida (at Grans Records shop), Flix, l'Ametlla de Mar, Tarragona, Sitges (at the El Retiro recreational society, which is restoring a former local cinema), Barcelona, Pineda de Mar, Celrà, Cardedeu, and Sabadell. The finale on August 26 features a "tiny desk"-style show at Enderrock's Barcelona offices.

Barrero seeks direct connections through acoustic sets in unconventional venues hosted by local entities, businesses, or institutions, bypassing social media hype. The unscripted film, backed by producer Miquel Coll on sound design, will emphasize endurance amid metabolic shifts, fatigue, weather, and terrain contrasts.

Daily live streams and updates will appear on social media, with funding from Estrella Andorra, logistics from Andorra Business, and plans for public grants plus broadcasts on Catalonia's local TV network. Gas concludes the trilogy that began with Líquid in 2022 and continued with Sòlid in 2024, targeting an early 2027 release.
