Ordino's Casa de la Muntanya Unveils VR Upgrades After 110,000 Visitors

The Casa de la Muntanya in Ordino has welcomed nearly 110,000 visitors since opening in June 2020, averaging 18,000 annually, as the parish council announced updates to its interactive exhibits.

On Friday, the Comú d'Ordino unveiled enhancements developed with Andorra Recerca i Innovació (AR+I), aiming to deliver more immersive and tailored experiences. Jordi Serracanta, the councillor for Tourism, Dynamisation and Sports, described the centre as a gateway to Ordino's mountainous world and Andorra's broader attractions, helping visitors select activities based on their interests and fitness levels.

Key upgrades include an overhauled 3D interactive model, where users now choose specific content such as paths, parishes, rivers and lakes. Two virtual reality headsets offer four new immersive experiences: two summer activities and two winter options, all focused on Ordino's iconic landscapes.

The centre primarily draws tourists eager to explore Andorra's natural heritage, but it has also become an educational hub. Between 2025 and the first half of 2026, around 700 school pupils from Andorran centres took part in sessions on local habitats and the environment.

AR+I's technology coordinator, Carles Serra, and technician Gemma Vidal contributed to the project, which seeks to bring scientific research closer to the public. Ordino officials said the partnership will continue, ensuring ongoing updates to keep the space dynamic and innovative for both residents and visitors.
