Eugènia Correia, an artist from Sant Julià de Lòria, has expressed full satisfaction after advancing to the semifinals of the Sona9 2026 competition as one of 12 selected acts. The singer secured her place through preliminary rounds across Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencia, and Andorra, including a key performance at Andorra's Auditori Nacional d'Ordino alongside fellow Andorran artists Júlia Sart and Marta’s.

Correia takes the stage next Wednesday, July 8, at Barcelona's La Nau venue, sharing it with Esgleyes, Joan Cuadern, and Orella d’Ós. Each semifinalist faces a 20-minute set of original songs, a Catalan-language cover, and a musical poem performance. The jury will then choose finalists for the September 23 grand final in Barcelona’s Plaça de Catalunya amid the Festes de la Mercè.

This 26th edition of the Catalan emerging music contest received 176 entries, marking the third-highest total in its history and a record for the past 14 years. Prizes exceed €50,000, covering the main Sona9 award, Youth Prize, Success Prize, Casas de la Música Prize, and a public-voted Verkami Prize.

With her folk-song style, Correia now prepares for what could prove a turning point in her career within the Catalan-speaking music scene.
