Arnau Sánchez Campamà Wins Andorra Barn Mural Contest in Incles Valley

Arnau Sánchez Campamà has won the Canillo Comú competition to design and create an artistic mural on a barn at the entrance to Incles Valley.

His Proposal C topped the combined scores from a technical jury and public vote. The €3,000 prize covers the full design, production, materials and execution of the work, which authorities expect to complete in the coming weeks. The project aims to highlight the site's natural and cultural heritage while blending art into the landscape of one of the parish's most iconic areas.

Organizers received three submissions through the Vortal platform by the 15 July deadline. To maintain fairness, jury members evaluated anonymized entries identified only by mottos. The panel, drawn from Culture and Traditions, Tourist and Commercial Promotion, Works and Services, and Citizen Participation, Communication and Innovation, weighed factors including artistic merit, environmental harmony, technical feasibility and material longevity.

Public input came via voting on the Comú's official channels and social media, where Proposal C claimed 186 votes (69%), far ahead of Proposal A with 56 (21%) and Proposal B with 28 (10%). The jury praised the winner for its artistic quality, seamless fit with the Incles surroundings, thematic alignment and practicality, giving it the unanimous top technical rating.

At the award ceremony, Canillo's Cònsol Major Jordi Alcobé noted the strong turnout as evidence of public enthusiasm for initiatives linking culture, engagement and local promotion. Councillor Coia Torres for Citizen Participation, Communication and Innovation added that such art helps preserve heritage, enhance scenery and offer new perspectives on key natural spaces. The mural will create a fresh landmark at the valley entrance.
