Andorra Showcases 240 Catalan Books at Barcelona's 44th Setmana del Llibre

Andorra is showcasing nearly 240 titles from local and Pyrenean authors and publishers at the 44th Setmana del Llibre en Català, underway in Barcelona's Passeig de Lluís Companys from Friday until 27 September.

The Andorran stand, number 32, brings together the government, the Associació d’Editors d’Andorra and the Associació Llibre del Pirineu. It features publications from institutions including Publicacions del Govern, the Consell General, the Universitat d’Andorra, and private publishers such as Editorial Andorra, Anem Editors, Marinada Edicions, Editorial Llamps i Trons, Premsa Andorrana, the Societat Andorrana de Ciències, Trotalibros Editorial, Editorial i Acadèmia Masegosa, Editorial Medusa and Edicions Salòria. The space allows editors, writers and organisations to display and sell their works, with a focus on recent releases.

Andorra has attended the event since 2012—biennially at first, then annually from 2016—backed by the Institut per al Desenvolupament i la Promoció de l’Alt Pirineu i Aran (IDAPA) for the Pyrenean association's involvement. The fair, which promotes Catalan-language reading and sales, hosts 332 exhibitors across 98 stands and over 350 activities for all audiences.

A highlight comes on Saturday 26 September with the Matí d’Andorra at Escenari 2. The session starts at 10:15am with opening remarks from Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Mònica Bonell and event organisers. From 10:30am, host Noemí Rodríguez will lead six segments introducing around 20 new titles, including Quan torni la llum by Carles Acosta, Principat blaugrana by Alex Terés, the graphic novel El Museu de l’elefant by Carles Pellejero and Joan Peruga, Friccions by Iñaki Rubio, Coca Masegada by Maria Cucurull, Vampirs by David Gálvez, Teoria del ridícul by Nil Forcada, 14 d’abril by Toni Caus, Atles de les ombres by Albert Ginestà (winner of the Premi MoraBanc de relats) and El diable irlandès by Àlex Garrido (Premi Fiter i Rossell 2025). It will close with a poetry recital.

Author signings at the stand that day include Dani Gómez Salamanca, of the young adult Trilogia d’Arfa series, at noon, and Montse Milan, author of La Colla, at 6:30pm.
