Andorra Turisme has launched the fifth edition of Andorra Taste, an international congress dedicated to high-mountain gastronomy, scheduled for 16-20 September in Escaldes-Engordany. Under the theme "When the territory is the ingredient", the event will emphasise the Principality's landscapes, local products and traditional recipes.

The presentation occurred on Wednesday at the Gastronomic Classroom in Barcelona's Santa Caterina Market, drawing specialised journalists, industry figures and chefs from prior editions, including Carme Ruscalleda, Raül Balam and Oriol Castro.

Andorra Turisme director general Betim Budzaku highlighted how the five editions have established the country as a key venue for high-mountain cuisine. He pointed to the role of local terrain and ingredients in shaping a distinctive culinary style.

The professional programme on 16-17 September will bring together 17 top chefs and gastronomes, representing 19 Michelin stars across their establishments. Participants include the Torres brothers, Emmanuel Renaut, Paco Roncero, Juanlu Fernández, Iván Cerdeño, Julian Stieger, Iris Jordán, Dennys Teixeira, Vivien Durand, Manolo Franco, Riccardo Gaspari and Rafel Muria.

At the Barcelona launch, Sergio and Javier Torres commended Andorran cooking for its skill with basic ingredients. Sergio observed that simplicity defines the Principality's approach, with their session set to explore classic recipes.

France serves as the guest region, chosen for its proximity, cultural ties and influence on Pyrenean mountain traditions.

Professional sessions feature an updated format: morning sessions with lectures, demos and talks, followed by intimate afternoon lunches and roundtables to encourage dialogue. "Territori en viu" returns on Friday, moving activities outdoors to immerse attendees in Andorra's terrain.

Public access from 18-20 September will take place in the upgraded Prat del Roure garden area, hosting up to 24 tasting stations. Options include direct card payments at stalls or rechargeable prepaid cards, broadening access to high-end mountain fare for residents and visitors.
